To welcome the long-awaited spring, this circle wove tea throughout the entire experience - from dough to filling, to seasonal appetizers and dessert. Each element was subtle, fragrant, and thoughtfully layered🍃

A standout from the menu: Sichuan peppercorn bamboo shoots. Tangy, nutty peppercorn paired with fresh, sweet bamboo shoots - bright, punchy, and perfectly in tune with the season (with maybe even more peppercorn oil next time).

And of course, the dumplings. One dinosaur-shaped creation took home the ceramic dumpling magnet - well deserved, especially after making the trip all the way from Philly just to fold with us🥹

Lunar New Year always makes me the most homesick. But this year, instead of sitting with that feeling alone, I built a table.

On the birthday of the God of Wealth, we made golden pumpkin dumplings shaped like ingots, tossed an Eight Treasure salad for prosperity (because “ba” sounds like “fa” 💛), sipped sweet red bean milk tea for luck, and shared osmanthus nian gao to rise higher in the year ahead.

Red envelopes for everyone. Strangers became chosen family. Maybe home isn’t a place - maybe it’s the people who show up and fold dumplings with you🧧✨

Our first circle of the year got off to a slightly bumpy start thanks to my unexpected back injury, but meeting so many new faces brought me so much joy after being stuck in bed for almost a whole month. It was freezing cold, but we had the most diverse group of peeps gathered together, including one OG circle member returned (shoutout to Adam).

We made 200 dumplings and bonded over our shared belief that Dubai chocolate is overrated 👀🍫 - and enjoyed them alongside two winter signature appetizers: Chinese Turnip Salad and 13-Spice Soy-Braised Tofu and Egg.

School Picture - January 2026 edition (missing Alexa and Julia, who had to leave a bit early).

Our last circle of this year was full, warm, and joyful in all the right ways. This time, we didn’t stop at one filling. Together we learned to make TWO: Pork + Chinese Chives and my new favorite Veggie Umami Bomb.

We wrapped the evening with a seasonal pumpkin chestnut latte for some extra warmth, lingering over full bellies and good conversation.

And last but not least, we took our first ever Dumpling Circle group photo!

14 brave souls showed up this past Saturday for the very first Dumpling Circle - different ages, different origins, one big table of dumplings.

A trio of sisters continuing their family’s tradition of making dumplings in honor of their loved ones who have passed. A Japanese mother bringing her daughter to learn something new together. Two Hong Kong natives arriving solo and leaving as friends.

All these stories…they warmed my heart. Here’s to creating spaces where people feel brave enough to show up - and soft enough to connect 🥟✨
